I had the honor of being invited into the delivery room as my best friend gave birth to her little girl. It was my first time as a CT birth photographer and I can’t wait to do another! It was such an incredible experience that I can’t even begin to describe. First of all, Besa is a rock star! Let me tell you, giving birth is NOT easy and Besa did AMAZING! When I first got the call at 4am that her water had broke I was so excited but incredibly nervous. Besides my own children’s birth I hadn’t witnessed another birth, never mind photograph one! I got out of bed and made sure my camera was all charged and cards were formatted. I packed some food and waited. And waited. And waited. Did some dishes. Put laundry away. Vacuumed the house. Waited some more. Wait a second, who is in labor here? I had my phone charging and when I went to check on it I had a text that she was 5cm and it was time for me to get there. I called my mother-in-law to come over to watch my kids and off I went.
At our local hospital you are not allowed to photograph during the actual delivery but they allowed me to photograph for a few pushes at the beginning and as soon as she was born the camera was allowed back out. I would love to photograph more births so if you have a friend that you think would be interested please share this post or send them to my FB page!
And now onto the birth story of Layla Noelle.
Besa and Steve – thank you both so much from the bottom of my whole heart for allowing me to share this special moment with you. Enjoy your new life as a family of four! XOXO
