Baby girl Holly is the cutest Weston CT newborn! Holly was a little bit older than the typical newborn age I photograph, but she did amazing. Absolutely amazing. I wasn’t sure how much she was going to sleep since I usually photograph newborns under 16 days of age. Despite Holly being 3 1/2 weeks, she was sleepier than some 7 day newborns I’ve photographed! For those that don’t know, usually the guideline is 2 weeks and under for posed newborn photographers. This is because babies are still extremely sleepy and they can curl up into those womb like poses since they haven’t been out in the real world for too long. As they get older, they start to stretch out more and have longer wake times.
Newborn photographers love the sleepy babies because when they are awake they usually want to eat, need a diaper change, or something is bothering them. Awake newborns have what I call the “popeye eye.” The one eye open and one eye closed. Kind of like what I look like when I wake up in the morning! Newborns can’t see very far so making eye contact is usually few and far between. While I do get some amazing awake newborn images, it’s usually just a waiting game for the little one to make eye contact and for me to click the shutter fast enough! Anyway, enough of my rambling. I never once saw Holly’s eyes! She would only make a peep when I tried to move her hand because she didn’t want it where I did, ha!
Weston CT Newborn | Holly 3 weeks
Lavender, gray, and mint green
I was SO, SO, excited when I received the questionnaire back for Holly’s newborn session. They had picked some of my favorite girl color combinations. I of course had so many things to choose from and couldn’t wait for Holly’s session. I love to mix and match colors and Holly looked great with all the colors! I think I particular loved her with lavender.
